Project Background
This work is a commission for a gaming community on Facebook. Samurai of Hellfire shows a relentless Samurai after defeating thousands of soldiers, leaving their bones in piles.
Process
I start off with layering the piles of skulls and combining images of the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine with a molten lava rock background. I also sketched out the Samurai armour with references from the client. The overall look was to have a splash of red and black to create a sinister look and feel.
Next was creating custom flowers to match the whole artwork. The client wanted to have additional elements to complement the bloody darkness theme so I hand drew my original flowers and imposed it into the artwork.
